Assistant Accommodation Manager

Role overview

Hodson Bay Hotel is looking for an experienced Assistant Accommodation Manager to join the team and support its commitment to outstanding hospitality. In this position, you will help maintain excellent cleanliness, presentation, and guest satisfaction across the hotel.

You will work alongside the Accommodation Manager to run the day-to-day activities of the Accommodation department, making sure guest bedrooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas are maintained to a consistently high standard.

Reporting to the Deputy General Manager, you will help guide a strong team and ensure guests receive a welcoming and efficient experience throughout their stay.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate daily tasks and cleaning schedules to Accommodation Assistants and Porters.
• Support the ongoing training and development of Accommodation staff so their skills continue to improve.
• Carry out routine checks of guest rooms and public areas to ensure cleanliness, order, and compliance with hotel standards.
• Record any maintenance issues or defects, follow them through, and make sure corrective action is completed.
• Oversee deep-cleaning programmes and track maintenance-related follow-up actions.
• Ensure all rooms and front-of-house areas remain clean and presented to a high standard at all times.
• Work closely with Front Office, Reservations, Maintenance, and other teams to keep operations running smoothly and support guest satisfaction.
• Respond to guest queries, concerns, and complaints quickly and professionally.
• Maintain full compliance with health, safety, and sanitation rules.
• Monitor stock levels of cleaning products and guest amenities.
• Promote and implement environmentally friendly practices within the Accommodation department.

Candidate profile

The role suits someone with prior accommodation experience and at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial position. Strong leadership, excellent organisation, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to work in a busy environment are all important. The right person should also be confident with cleaning methods, products, equipment, and workplace health and safety standards. Good communication, interpersonal ability, fluent written and spoken English, and solid IT skills are also required.
