Role overview
This position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara in Doha, Qatar. The role sits within Minor Hotels, a global hospitality group with a portfolio of more than 530 properties across 50+ countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America.
As the Assistant Concierge Manager, you will help deliver the brand service promise by leading the concierge function with the right attitude, a warm approach, and a commitment to creating exceptional guest experiences. The role calls for someone who can turn unusual guest requests into practical solutions while maintaining service quality, order, and professionalism.
Key duties
- Oversee the day-to-day running of the entire concierge operation.
- Support, coach, and direct Concierge Agents in their daily work.
- Review and amend team schedules according to expected business levels.
- Offer constructive feedback and use every opportunity to train and develop colleagues.
- Help drive training activities and step into a training role whenever needed.
- Keep the team fully informed about hotel facilities, local happenings, promotions, and city activities so guests receive accurate guidance.
- Represent the hotel as a knowledgeable point of contact and assist with a wide range of guest needs.
- Build and maintain a dependable network of external service providers to handle guest requirements efficiently.
- Ensure guest-facing printed resources such as brochures, maps, and attraction guides are available.
- Arrange guest requests related to dining, entertainment, recreation, tours, transport, florists, medical services, childcare, and other non-hotel services.
- Handle inquiries positively and ensure all follow-ups and handovers are completed properly.
- Supervise the safe and efficient handling of luggage, messages, parcels, and other guest items.
- Maintain transparency and accountability in all financial matters.
- Uphold integrity and trust within the team.
- Work within financial controls, adhere to budget guidelines, and manage costs carefully.
- Maintain records and documentation, including receipt filing and daily bill-related paperwork.
- Oversee concierge-related activities so all transactions are completed in the company’s best interest.
- Monitor proper use of hotel systems and equipment.
- Promote a safe working environment and support a results-focused, service-oriented culture.
- Follow departmental standard operating procedures and all safety policies.
- Promote the hotel’s services, offers, facilities, and operating hours to guests.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong passion for guest service and hospitality.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, along with leadership ability.
- Well-organized, target-driven, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound interpersonal judgment.
- High level of reliability and accountability.
- Fluent in English; knowledge of a second language is an advantage.
- Membership of Les Clefs D'Or is required.
- At least 1 year of proven supervisory experience, or an equivalent background in customer service.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to varied guest requests.
- Comfortable using Windows-based software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Able to work cooperatively with colleagues as part of a team.
- Able to stay calm, courteous, and attentive to guest needs at all times.
