Role overview
This position leads the daily running of the bar and lounge, overseeing staff performance, guest experience, and compliance. The role also supports lounge promotion, menu development, inventory management, and budget control while helping maintain strong service standards and legal compliance.
Key duties
- Direct day-to-day bar and lounge shift activity and supervise the team on duty.
- Apply beverage policies and operating procedures consistently across the property.
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal alcohol and liquor regulations.
- Manage beverage controls such as inventory, stock levels, portion control, costs, sales mix, issue and returns, and period-end counts.
- Track liquor-control practices and make sure policies are followed at all times.
- Join pre-event and post-event meetings when needed to understand group requirements.
- Review budgets, operating statements, and payroll reports to support financial management.
- Help manage controllable expenses and work toward or beyond budget targets.
- Maintain bar/lounge standards, procedures, food safety, and sanitation requirements.
- Oversee inventory levels in line with business demand and budget goals.
- Support menu creation and promotional activity where required.
- Train staff on liquor-control rules and operating procedures.
- Set staffing levels to meet guest service, operational, and financial needs.
- Make sure team members clearly understand expectations and performance standards.
- Share event-related information promptly with the bar/lounge team.
- Deliver strong guest service and gather feedback on product and service quality.
- Handle guest issues and complaints effectively and professionally.
- Encourage employees to provide excellent service and focus on continuous improvement.
- Coach team members using feedback, comment cards, and guest satisfaction results.
- Support new-hire orientation and training so employees can perform successfully.
- Contribute to corrective action planning and implementation.
- Assist in other food and beverage outlets when business needs require it.
