Job description

Role overview

L.E.K. Consulting is a global strategy advisory firm that partners with leading organisations to tackle complex business challenges. Founded in 1983, the firm operates from 27 offices around the world and employs roughly 3,000 professionals. It is recognised as one of the top workplaces in Professional Services by the Australian Financial Review and is known for combining the scale of a multinational with the feel of a close-knit, supportive team.

The firm is hiring Consultants for its Sydney or Melbourne offices. This role sits at the centre of the case team and offers early leadership responsibility, including the opportunity to oversee Associates from the outset.

What you will do

As a Consultant, you will take ownership of the analytical work needed to solve a client’s strategic problem and help shape the final recommendation. You will work closely with Associates, Managers and Partners throughout the case lifecycle.

  • Partner with Managers and Partners to define the core business issues that need to be resolved.
  • Build the analytical approach and direct the team’s research into areas such as market growth, competitor analysis and wider market trends.
  • Lead and coach junior Associates through their day-to-day work.
  • Plan, prioritise and coordinate multiple workstreams while meeting case milestones using suitable project management tools and strong client-facing communication.
  • Maintain the quality of your own output and review the work produced by the team.
  • Help generate clear, practical recommendations and support the delivery of findings to the client.
  • Watch for new business opportunities and raise them with senior leaders.
  • Give regular, constructive feedback to team members and share upward feedback on case leadership and management.

What the firm is looking for

The preferred candidate will bring prior strategy consulting or corporate strategy experience, ideally from relevant industries. The role is intended for experienced professionals and is not suitable for MBA graduates without previous management consulting experience.

  • At least 5 years of experience in strategy consulting or corporate strategy.
  • Strong commercial judgement, initiative and entrepreneurial thinking.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Proven experience leading teams or managing projects end to end.
  • Comfort working through uncertainty and change.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, growth-oriented environment with integrity, patience and humour.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Must have prior strategy consulting experience in advisory or corporate settings.

Why join L.E.K.

  • Shorter case cycles that accelerate exposure to more clients, industries, teams and strategic problems.
  • Broad experience across Strategy, Transactions, and Organisation & Performance engagements.
  • Structured learning through a monthly Back to the Office Day dedicated to development, with curated cohort-based learning each year.
  • A merit-based environment with frequent feedback and faster promotion for those who are ready.
  • Close collaboration with senior clients and partners on a daily basis.
  • Flexible and remote working arrangements tailored to individual needs.
  • A lively workplace culture supported by committees such as [email protected]., Women in Business, Community Engagement, Ministry of Fun, and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
