Role overview

BESIX Watpac is seeking a Design Coordinator to join its Queensland Construction team in Brisbane. This opportunity has arisen because of a strong project pipeline in South East Queensland, and the role plays an important part in maintaining high standards of project delivery through design leadership.

What you’ll do

• Support the management of the design team and help ensure project documents are delivered on time.
• Take part in design and coordination meetings with consultants and subcontractors.
• Check project designs to confirm they meet regulatory and building compliance requirements.
• Assess design solutions for buildability with the construction team and trade subcontractors to improve delivery efficiency.
• Examine trade package documentation against the head contract before tenders are released, and monitor workshop drawing production and coordination through to construction.

What we’re looking for

The ideal candidate will bring a relevant tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, along with prior construction industry experience. Experience working with a principal contractor on large D&C building projects from start to finish will be highly valued. You should be comfortable working with external consultants to achieve the best project outcome and be able to perform effectively in a busy, fast-moving environment.
