Role overview
Amentum is hiring a Diver to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission on Andros Island in the Bahamas. This position involves underwater work in support of US Navy marine vessels and structures, along with related equipment, vessel, and handling duties.
Clearance and citizenship requirement
The role requires the ability to secure and keep a Secret US Government Clearance. US citizenship is necessary in order to qualify for that clearance.
Key duties
- Carry out strictly limited no-decompression dives to a maximum depth of 100 feet of seawater using open-circuit SCUBA gear and related diving equipment to recover, inspect, repair, install, and remove devices from USN marine vessels and structures.
- Run and care for diving air systems in accordance with OSHA Diving Air Standards.
- Use and maintain diving gear such as tanks, regulators, masks, and fins to keep operations supported.
- Handle forklift and overhead crane operations in line with OSHA/NAVFAC requirements.
- Operate a tractor trailer according to NAVSEA standards.
- Use and maintain underwater camera and video systems.
- Operate and look after the dive boat and the support equipment used with it.
- Support ordnance and target handling, transportation, and recovery tasks.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.
Minimum qualifications
Candidates should bring at least 4 years of relevant experience in military diving, OSHA commercial air diving, or a similar professional setting. A high school diploma or GED is required. Applicants must also hold an Association of Commercial Diving Educators certification or an equivalent military certification.
Additional conditions and preferred background
- The selected candidate must be able to obtain NAVFAC forklift and overhead crane operator certification, as well as certified tractor trailer operator status, within 6 months of joining.
- The role requires qualification as an ordnance team member within 6 months of hire.
- Living in a remote location with limited medical facilities is part of the assignment.
- A valid driver’s license and passport are required.
- Experience with ship husbandry and transducer replacement is preferred.
- Lift bag and underwater rigging training is preferred.
- Qualification in Aqualung first- and second-stage maintenance, repair, and rebuild is also preferred.
Work setting
This is an on-site position based on Andros Island, Bahamas, in a remote work location.
