Role overview
Join a fast-growing New Zealand team as a Field Service Engineer based in Auckland. In this position, you’ll support advanced medical equipment, strengthen service capability across the country, and contribute to a business that is expanding. The role is suited to someone who wants to make a real difference, develop other people, and help raise the standard of service delivery.
This is a travel-heavy role covering both the North and South Islands of New Zealand. You should be comfortable travelling at short notice when required.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will work hands-on with devices that support patient care. You’ll be a reliable technical contact for clinicians, helping ensure equipment remains safe, dependable, and available when needed.
If you enjoy diagnosing issues, working in dynamic environments, and seeing the direct impact of your work, this role combines purpose with technical challenge and development.
Key duties
- Carry out repairs, servicing, and testing of Stryker’s electronic and mechanical products in line with manufacturer guidance and regulatory expectations.
- Perform preventive maintenance, calibration work, and yearly inspections on equipment used in hospitals and clinical settings.
- Install systems and complete hardware and software updates at customer locations.
- Troubleshoot faults quickly and effectively to reduce disruption for clinicians.
- Organise your own work plan and regional travel while meeting service commitments.
- Work closely with Customer Service to maintain efficient processes and meet customer expectations.
- Record service work accurately to support compliance and traceability.
- Provide technical support and training to both internal colleagues and customers.
- Carry out recalls, field safety notifications, and other regulated field actions in coordination with quality teams.
- Share insights about product performance and customer requirements to support ongoing improvement.
Candidate profile
To succeed in this position, you’ll need a solid technical background, strong problem-solving ability, and the confidence to work independently across a wide geographic region. The role also calls for good communication, flexibility, and a customer-focused approach.
Required qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Medical Electronics, Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, Mechanical, Software, Medical Physics, or another relevant technical discipline.
- A current driver’s licence.
- Strong practical technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
Preferred experience
- Background in medical devices, healthcare technology, or a trade-based technical field.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with customers.
- Capability to work on your own and manage several priorities at once.
