Overview

As a Microsoft Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT), you will be responsible for conducting cycle audits, managing incoming and outgoing deliveries, coordinating security escorts for external vendors, and meticulously documenting all delivery activities as directed by management. This role also involves initiating warranty claims and processing returns for faulty equipment. Responsibilities

  • Execute assigned duties and escalate issues during periods of high workload or critical situations, under the guidance of senior Data Center personnel.
  • Liaise with suppliers to process warranty claims and manage the return of defective vendor hardware, including processing information, packaging, shipping, and receiving returned items for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) in compliance with all relevant Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Gain proficiency in stock control and inventory management methodologies and procedures.
  • Maintain precise records of all incoming and outgoing deliveries.
  • Familiarize yourself with the terms of Microsoft's contractual agreements with suppliers and consistently uphold a customer-centric approach.
  • Conduct cycle audits and implement data corrections to ensure adherence to all inventory control standards.
  • Assist in reconciling inventory records and reporting any discrepancies.
  • Ensure meticulous tracking and staging of physical inventory.
  • Under the supervision of experienced Data Center colleagues, perform the destruction of data-bearing devices (DBD) in strict accordance with all applicable SLAs and Microsoft policies.
  • Adhere to all security and data management protocols.
  • Actively contribute to and embody our organizational culture and values.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma with a minimum of 6 months of experience in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a similar field, or an equivalent internship.
  • Alternatively, equivalent practical experience will be considered.

Background Check Requirements

Successful completion of Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screenings is mandatory for this role. These may include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security checks:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: Candidates must pass this check upon hiring or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in warehouse/supply chain operations within an information technology (IT) environment, or in IT and/or logistics, including experience operating heavy-load movement equipment (such as forklifts, pallet jacks, chassis lifts) for a large corporation, or equivalent experience.
