Overview
This opportunity is for a Building Services Engineer based at Central Park in Greater Dublin. The assignment runs for 1 year and has a strong chance of extension. The position is offered on a hybrid working basis and pays €50 per hour.
Role summary
The role focuses on providing technical and commercial support across mechanical and electrical building services activities. You will help evaluate repair and reactive maintenance costs, support project delivery, contribute to design documentation, and work closely with internal teams, customers, vendors, and contractors to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective outcomes.
Key duties
- Offer independent M&E cost guidance on proposed repair and reactive maintenance work delivered by third-party facilities providers, checking pricing to confirm value for money.
- Support the maintenance team in tracking reactive jobs from the time they are received through to completion.
- Provide technical input for information requests before construction starts and throughout the build phase.
- Work with other disciplines to produce construction documentation and coordinate with regional vendors and manufacturers to define suitable mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Oversee and review life safety investment proposals and act as a key contact for the Engineering Services team.
- Analyse reactive work order data to identify trends and useful operational insights.
- Monitor project schedules closely, including regular progress reporting and tracking.
- Review and approve equipment submittals.
- Support project installation activities on customer sites, ensuring quality, health and safety, and technical standards are met.
- Advise on high-value capital and revenue repairs or replacement decisions.
- Compile both mapped and unmapped service delivery processes.
- Create process libraries and develop new procedures and process maps where none currently exist.
- Assist with legislative gap analysis and help build templates to address compliance gaps, including items such as the Fire Assessment Strategy, Emergency Lighting Guidance, Asbestos Register, and Chemicals Register.
Candidate profile
The client is seeking a qualified mechanical or electrical engineer with strong technical knowledge, practical leadership ability, and experience working across building services, compliance, and project delivery.
Additional information
Contract duration is 1 year, with a good possibility of extension. Pay is set at €50 per hour. The role is based in Central Park and follows a hybrid working arrangement.
What will help you succeed
- A Level 7 degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Working toward Chartered Engineer status is considered an advantage, though it is not mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of European codes and standards.
- Familiarity with Irish building codes and regulations.
- Leadership and problem-solving strengths.
- Good understanding of ISO 9001 quality documentation practices.
- Solid technical design knowledge relevant to the company’s operations.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Capable of identifying barriers quickly and removing roadblocks.
- Strong planning and organisation skills to manage resources and deadlines effectively.
- Creative mindset with the ability to find cost-saving solutions without affecting quality, reliability, or maintainability.
- Comfortable working with customers, suppliers, and contractors while maintaining constructive relationships.
