Job description

About Aon

Aon focuses on helping people and businesses make better decisions. As a major insurance broker, the company aims to give clients the clarity and confidence they need to navigate important moments and protect what matters most.

In this role, you will contribute to innovative placement solutions, help deepen relationships with insurers and clients, and support outcomes that help New Zealand businesses grow and stay protected.

About the Role

As a Placement Broker, you will work alongside Placement Leads to help shape and deliver placement strategies across important lines of business. Your work will involve supporting program design, engaging with insurers, contributing to market negotiations, reviewing analytics, and helping client teams with market intelligence and practical placement solutions.

The position plays a key part in supporting placement quality, efficient operations, and strong client outcomes across Aon’s New Zealand portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Placement Leads with program structuring and strategic account reviews.
  • Assist with portfolio management and insurer engagement across New Zealand, London, Asian, and Australian markets.
  • Provide client servicing teams with useful market intelligence and guidance.
  • Build understanding of placement strategy and tactics that help achieve client and business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with underwriters and carriers.
  • Use Aon’s data and analytics tools to create and share insights.
  • Help prepare tender responses, retention approaches, and client acquisition support.
  • Apply operational best practices, support Aon United principles, and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Identify and manage conduct, operational, privacy, and third-party risks.

Skills and Experience

You should bring a solid understanding of major insurance lines, especially Property, General Liability, and Motor. The role also requires the ability to read and explain policy wording clearly, along with making recommendations based on data and market knowledge.

Strong relationship-building, communication, and negotiation skills are important, as is the ability to work well in a fast-moving environment as part of a small, agile team.

Why Join Aon

  • Work with collaborative teams locally and internationally.
  • Receive structured onboarding and ongoing professional development.
  • Gain opportunities to grow across different areas of the business.

Benefits

  • Competitive base pay with an annual incentive.
  • Access to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Health and life insurance, with income protection options.
  • Gym discounts.
  • Flexible working arrangements, early finishes on Fridays, and 2 wellbeing days each year.
  • Employee Assistance Programme support.
