Job description
About Mindrift
Mindrift connects specialists with project-based AI opportunities for leading tech companies, focusing on testing, evaluating, and improving AI systems. Participation is project-based, not permanent employment.
What This Opportunity Involves
Contributors will be tasked with designing original computational physics problems that simulate real-world physics research workflows. This includes creating problems that require Python programming for their solution, utilizing libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, and Sympy. The problems must be computationally intensive, making manual solutions impractical within reasonable timeframes. Development will focus on challenges in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics, drawing inspiration from actual research or practical physics applications. Solutions will be verified using Python and standard physics simulation libraries, and clear documentation for problem statements and verified answers will be required.
What We Look For
This role is ideal for physicists with Python experience who are seeking part-time, non-permanent projects. Key qualifications include a degree in Physics (Theoretical, Experimental, or Computational) or a related field, proficiency in Python for numerical validation (equivalents like MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or domain-specific libraries are also considered), and at least 2 years of professional, research, or teaching experience. Candidates should possess experience with numerical simulation methods, the ability to design problems mirroring real research workflows, creative problem-solving skills across various physics domains, and familiarity with physics modeling and approximation techniques. Strong written English proficiency (C1+) is essential.
How It Works
The process involves applying, passing qualifications, joining a project, completing tasks, and receiving payment.
Project Time Expectations
Active project phases are estimated to require approximately 10-20 hours per week. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload, applicable only during active project periods.
Compensation
On this project, contributors can earn up to $45 per hour equivalent, based on their expertise and contribution speed. Compensation may vary for different projects on the platform depending on their specific scope, complexity, and required skills.
Additional Information
Please submit your CV in English and indicate your level of English proficiency.
