Job description

Role overview

This position focuses on post-sales technical assistance for customers, covering issue resolution through repairs, field interventions, technical guidance, and other service-related requests. The role operates within established policies, works closely with cross-functional partners, and carries a high degree of autonomy within its area. It may also influence budgets, operating plans, and outcomes for a smaller business unit or a function/P&L segment. Strong judgment and solid operational understanding are essential.

What you will do

  • Take ownership of technical problems raised after the sale and see them through to closure.
  • Provide support across Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 technical issues, with the depth of involvement depending on product complexity.
  • Depending on the product and structure, handle one or multiple support levels, from basic troubleshooting to advanced technical resolution.
  • Manage senior direct reports as a second-line leader and help attract and retain strong talent.
  • Contribute expert guidance in the function and influence delivery, policy, and coordination with other teams.
  • Review business and technical challenges, then recommend practical improvements to products, processes, and services.
  • Apply knowledge of market and industry trends to support sound decision-making.
  • Guide teams in solving complex technical and manufacturing problems that involve multiple dependencies and varied processes.
  • Use advanced engineering, manufacturing, or operational methods to resolve issues in coordination with nearby functions.
  • Assess the quality of information received, question inconsistent inputs, and use multiple internal and external sources to reach decisions.
  • Lead moderate-complexity projects or functional workstreams, balancing resources, risk, and scope.
  • Present technical or business solutions to leadership and influence internal stakeholders, and where needed, external partners, vendors, or customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electronic, electrical, or electromechanical engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience with GEV HVDC and FACTS equipment.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the energy sector, including 5 years focused on transmission networks.
  • Strong understanding of transmission equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of synchro-condenser systems.
  • Ability to use specialist tools such as pressure pumps, multimeters, frequency generators, oscilloscopes, and field generators.
  • Capable of reading and applying technical documents such as wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Advanced computer skills, especially with MS Office.
  • Fluent English communication is required.
  • Solid engineering experience related to transmission networks.

Desired profile

  • Ability to support outages and quickly find answers as issues arise.
  • Arabic and French fluency is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EX2100e will be an added advantage.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Comfortable working under pressure, taking ownership of onsite work, and handling overtime when needed.
  • Willingness to travel within the country and internationally.
  • Hands-on experience with successful installations and outages.
  • Familiarity with instruments, controls, and PLCs used in control training.
  • Awareness of computer network systems and switches.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
